Wanted To Applaud But Prevented By Old Habits

-- The Plane Landed In Kiev Ukraine With Unforgettable Applause

No.2 of the irregular series excerpted from

The Cross Country Love Between Chinese Husband & Ukrainian Wife

Since 2007, when my catering company entered a period of rapid development,

I had almost become a flying man. When the flight landed, the first action was to switch on the mobile phone in a hurry,

and replied and sent various QQ messages and SMS when taxiing on the runway.

Everyone seems to be in a hurry in the cabin.

In 2017, when the plane first flew to Ukraine and just touched the ground on the runway of Borispol airport in Kiev,

a group of Slavic passengers in the cabin didn't know whether they knew each other,

but they all clapped loudly in the cabin, and several blonde and brown haired girls couldn't help cheering.

The voice was full of excitement.

I was surprised!

Yes, according to my experience of flying in China for many years,

isn't it just a safe landing? Need to make such a fuss? Besides,

we paid for it. Did I meet it the first time a group of young people who had never met the world?

But soon it was like being slapped by myself. The second and third time,

every time from Beijing to Kiev,

more than half of the Ukrainians or Russians

(whose appearance I can't distinguish their specific nationality) took the flight,

they would continue to applaud upon the touch-down.

Such applause has become a highlight drawn in the lonely air travel from Beijing to Kiev,

and the first prompt symbol I wake up in the deep sleep of

the long-distance air travel:  Arrived Already In Ukraine.

And every time the foreigners applauded, as always,

coincidentally; and all the Chinese passengers in the cabin were calm,

as always completely indifferent.

In fact, I would like to clap with them for two times,

because there was a kind of passion in the clapping,

a fine emotional feature that was good at realizing gratitude.

But I was really a little embarrassed, you know.

But my heart was already applauding - not only to thank the

crew for delivering us safely to our destination,

but also to marvel at the same and consistent behavior pattern.

When I was on this flight with my Ukrainian wife Vika,

I applauded with her. In domestic short-distance flights in China,

we also agreed not to do such a big move,

so that people on the first flight would be surprised to see us ------ do as the Romans do!

Later, I came across a scholar who said that there was a thought closest

to Christianity in Chinese history, that is, Mohist's "dual love".

Of course, because of various reasons,

Mohism has not become the mainstream ideological system inherited by the Chinese world. Coincidentally,

he also talked about foreigners applauding for the safe arrival of the crew in the cabin.

Maybe he raised the little thing too high.

However, as a Chinese who was born and grew up in China and knew what was going on,

I was also engaged in the Taiji cultural communication project. At that time, I felt a lot.
Passengers in any country know that crew members are only a kind of work,

passengers have paid for this kind of service,

and safe arrival is a kind of service commitment. However,

how does this kind of coincident clapping behavior mode spontaneously come into being?

That's the point.

A concrete action is worth a thousand words!
